I purchased a brand-new iHarvest system, still sealed in the box, and expected a company like IG Works to stand behind its product. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing.
From the beginning, I was missing multiple items that were supposed to be in the box — the pH test kit, both bottles of pH Up and Down, the seeds, and the small green clips that keep the cups in place. I sent them detailed photos showing that the system was clearly unused and that I was the first person to unbox it. Instead of honoring the fact that I was the first user, they told me they would not warranty the unit simply because I wasn’t the original purchaser.
When I asked if a gifted system wouldn’t qualify for registration, if it was never used, I received no answer. They kept me waiting for hours online, asking for more photos and barcodes, only to ultimately decide that I didn’t “qualify” because the seller might have been part of a Kickstarter program. They repeatedly tried upselling me $50 screw-lock cups (which they have now switched to because the old cups fail and leak) and tried to sell me other accessories — pot covers, reflective covers, and even a noise-reduction add-on that wasn’t even in stock. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not their priority — only more sales.
Even when I expressed that this soured me on the entire system and that I would have happily purchased additional accessories if they had simply made me whole on missing basic parts, they refused to do anything to resolve the situation. The final message I received suggested that if the trellis did its job, I shouldn’t worry about the cups leaking — but if that were true, why did IG Works redesign cups in the first place?
Owners service felt dismissive and short-sighted, and I truly believe this is how small companies lose loyal customers and eventually go out of business. A few dollars’ worth of parts and a gesture of goodwill would have turned me into a lifelong buyer — instead, I will never spend another dime with IG Works.
I strongly encourage potential buyers to look into competitors like Gardyn (G-A-R-D-Y-N), which offers a much more advanced system for a similar price — with smart lighting controls, tank monitoring, and even GoPro time-lapse growing photo Timelapse features through their app.
I wanted to love the iHarvest, but instead I was left with missing parts and products, wasted hours, and no resolution. If IGWorks ever decides to take customer satisfaction seriously, I’d be happy to revise this review — but as it stands, I cannot recommend this product or this company.
