I am an experienced hydroponics user who lost about a dozen Aerogarden and four Salad Boxes in a house fire. I'm using this to segregate a few herbs that seem to attract aphids to a large system.
Comparing this to the Aerogarden, it is simpler. For example, instead of setting an on and off schedule you turn the unit off and on to change the start time and it keeps that schedule going forward. However, to get a 24" grow height you would pay a good deal more.
When I started growing hydroponically there were few sellers. Now they abound but most are of questionable quality and replacement parts are not generally available.
I like that replacement parts for this are readily available locally or through their website and that the company does not try to upsell all the time.
Do wish a unit with the 2" net pots were available. You can buy pieces individually but adding those to the regular setup gets costly. And perhaps larger roots in the same growing space would not work? They say the larger net pots are used to start seedlings for the larger system.
Finally, kudos on their customer service. My lights failed to come on. I took pictures to accompany an email and had the solution to my problem (Had not pushed the light hard enough to properly seat it) in under three hours.
