Prep Time: approx. 15 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 10 Minutes. Ready in: approx. 25 Minutes. Makes 4  servings.

Sesame Sauce:
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon cornstarch

Stir-Fry:
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
black pepper, to taste
3/4 lb beef top sirloin, cut into strips
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 large button mushrooms, sliced thin
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1/2 lb snow peas or sugar snap peas, trimmed
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
Steamed rice or Asian noodles, for serving

Prepare the sauce by whisking together the beef broth, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.

In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and black pepper. Mix well then stir in the sliced beef, coating it in the mixture.

Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of the oil. When hot, add the beef and quickly stir-fry for 2 minutes or until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet with a slotted spoon and keep warm on a plate.

Add the remaining vegetable oil to the wok. Add the mushrooms, garlic, and ginger.  Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the snow peas and reserved sauce mixture. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the vegetables are the desired doneness. Return the beef to the skillet and stir to coat it in the sauce. Sprinkle the sesame seeds evenly over the top.

Serve immediately over steamed rice or Asian noodles, if desired.
