Sage And Onion Stuffing

Sage and Onion Stuffing

This sage and onion stuffing can be used to stuff a 12-14 pound turkey or simply bake as a side dish. Use fresh sage and even green onions from your indoor garden in this recipe.

Prep Time: approx. 10 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 30 Minutes. Ready in: approx. 45 minutes. Makes 6  servings.

1/2 cup butter, melted
2 medium onions, chopped
2 cups celery, thinly sliced
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon fresh sage leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
Black pepper, to taste
4 cups dried bread cubes

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and celery. Cook, stirring frequently, until the vegetables are soft.

Add the broth to the pan. Bring to a simmer. Add the sage, salt, and pepper.

Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Add the broth mixture to the bowl, stirring to coat the bread cubes in the broth.

Let cool to room temperature then stuff the turkey as desired.

Or, transfer the stuffing to a 2-quart baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes of the cooking time if a crispier texture is desired.
