from 126 reviewsI have used other systems and enjoyed the food produced but there were so many problems! This system has lights that can be moved as plants grow… a MUST. It has no fancy electronics and apps that easily fail. Maintenance is light years easier! The large tank allows for worry free travel. I can’t say enough good things!
The uHarvest is a tasteful solidly built enjoyable easy to use product. I’ve grown lettuce , spinach and delectable ( tasteful in the literal sense) edible Violas. I’m branching out to Kale and parsley for my next harvest. My Boston apartment small kitchen has no windows and is truly made joyful by the uHarvest. It’s a conversation piece. I strongly recommend it. Makes sure you don’t forget ( as I did for a week or so) the height of the light is adjustable unlike competing products. I’m happy to say the uHarvest is great value and a sweet gift. Enjoy.
I am already a multiple iHarvest owner since they first came out. I produce lots of lettuce, tomatoes, basil, and strawberries for daily harvests. When I first saw the uHarvest being offered by IGW I knew it would be a quality product from my experience with the iHarvest. I was not disappointed.
The powerful LED grow light, the thick plastic parts, and large removable reservoir are impressive. The ability to support 12 growing pods was also a factor in my buying decision.
My only complaint was that whenever the unit is powered on, it starts the lights from that point. It was not obvious how to set the lights to start at some time other than the current moment. It took a while to discover that the trick is to set the clock to the time you want the lights to start, then power it off and back on. Then set the clock back to the current time. I would have liked it if it would have saved that light on time across power failures.
I use the uHarvest for the first two weeks from germination to small plants. Then I transfer the plants to the iHarvest. This has the effect of decreasing the growing time by 2 weeks for the iHarvest. With rotating the crops in the iHarvest, the one uHarvest can keep up with the initial plant growth. The arrangement of the uHarvest is ideally suited for the first 2 weeks of lettuce growth.
I am using a prototype replacement top cover that adapts the iHarvest net cups to the uHarvest to make it work more ideally for my purpose.
I’ve had my iHarvest about 6 months and I’m on my third crop. I really like it. I chose the iHarvest over the other tower units because 1. it doesn’t have as many bells and whistles. Bells and whistles tend to break, but the iHarvest is a very simple design. 2. I didn’t want proprietary parts because this is a new market with only a few competitors, odds are high that some of these young companies will go out of business and I wanted to be able to continue to use my unit even if that happens. 3. It’s pretty.
I’ve learned which plants make sense for me, and it’s lettuce. I grown about a large salad’s worth a day, Xalbadora Romain is my favorite. The unit will definitely pay for its self in a year or so.
Cons - 1. The noise. As soon as they came out with the noise reducer I ordered it immediately. Once my new crop grows in I’ll see how well it works. 2. Information, I think the company needs to have more online instructions and videos to help support customers, especially when it comes to their accessories and how to grow and harvest certain plants.
Bottom line: I love it. I’m sensitive to noise but I put up with it because of all the delicious food I can easily grow while it adds to the beauty of my home. I will never outdoor garden again and I’m saving for a second unit.
I hope this company steps up its support and market efforts, because it definitely has a superior product.
I have four iHarvests and my favorite part about this indoor garden is how simple it is. I don't have to worry about built in grow lights, control boxes, wifi, or any other electrical parts. If anything goes wrong with the water pump or lights, IGWorks has them available for purchase or you can get your own somewhere else.
The iHarvest works really well and you can expect to grow anything from herbs, lettuces, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, squash, zucchinis, cucumbers, and melons.
Cleaning and maintenance of the iHarvest is as easy as putting it together. I have my iHarvest on a flat cabinet dolly so I can just move it around anywhere easily.
Customer support is great. If you are missing something, it'll be sent to you at no charge of your own.
We have been growing lettuce, chard, and basil successfully in the IHarvest and are so happy we can have a fresh healthy salad whenever we want! The lights that come in the package do the job and are *really* bright! 😎 So you don't blind the neighbors, I recommend not placing the unit by the window. Since we want to keep our unit in the kitchen/near windows we are planning on building a cabinet with tinted glass to house the IHarvest. As another reviewer mentioned, the lights don't get the middle of the plants as well. Every time I cut the roots I try to switch the plants around so they get equal time in the brightest spots. It's not a big issue for me but I'd love to see some new IHarvest lights too!
Very easy to assemble and easy to clean because of its simplicity. All parts can be easily bought and replaced with no problems. Extremely effective in growing veggies and there is a lot of information about getting started and growing on Facebook community. Worth every penny and does what it's advertised to do. That is: Puts the freshest veggies on your table. To me, purchasing the iHarvest unit is like a very good investment that will pay for itself and go beyond that.
We are amazed at how quickly the lettuce, pea plants, tomato plants, basil and assorted greens have grown. It has just been 2 months and 2 weeks. Already, we have needed to put small strings attached to the ceiling to give support to the pea plants that are flowering already. The tomato plants have nice thick stalks, a lot of large healthy leaves and some flowers. We have had about 6 large salads already from cutting leaves from the abundance of lettuce leaves and assorted salad greens growing. We are very pleased with our indoor hydroponic garden. It is a bit noisier than we expected but the 'noise" is worth it, to us. We have a pretty small house, and we placed it at the rear of our home, in front of a large window, so the plants get some real sunlight as well as the light from the two "lamps" provided. We are very glad we purchased this product (the iHarvest Complete Package.)
I did a lot of research before purchasing this specific unit.
Things to keep in mind:
-is it easy to clean (this is!). I've had mine for 8 months, I've taken it apart and cleaned it once. It stays pretty clean if you keep empty spot covered so lit doesn't get in.
-can you use your own seeds/supplies - YES! Some of these units have odd-shaped planting cups and openings to put them in so you're forced to buy supplies from the company.
This is so beautiful, it's like a living work of art in your space. Super helpful facebook community and many videos from iharvest owners are available on YouTube.
The company owner is very "hands on", so don't be surprised if you hear from him in the community as well. Top notch support!
You won't regret the investment in this unit - but you might regret buying something else instead ;)
The iHarvest is an excellent way to garden indoors when you do not have lots of space. Easy to set up, well-constructed, and comes with everything you need to get started. Most of all, their customer service is excellent - proactive, but not intrusive. Quick to respond and helpful, especially Dave, the CEO.
Here's what I like about my purchase:
1. Doesn't take a ton of space and aesthetically pleasing
2. Well constructed and simple - no subscriptions, cameras/wifi, specialized equipment that you HAVE to buy from them, so it gives you freedom to customize.
3. Ability to grow larger things that you couldn't in smaller table top hydroponic systems
4. Timely and helpful customer service
5. Reasonable, interest-free payment plans if you don't want to/can't do the lump sum
6. Informative/helpful group network on social media
Areas for improvement:
1. Growing larger things could cause the net cups to come forward; I wish there was a better way to secure them.
2. Plugs that fit well for unused spots and covers for tops of the net cups would be helpful to limit algae growth. I bought them on Amazon, but it would be nice to have in the start up pack.
3. I also bought a bubbler for the tank so the water's not stagnant. Unnecessary, but if they sold one at a competitive price on their site, I might have bought from them instead of Amazon because I've had good experiences with the company thus far.
I'd write a more, but don't have there's a character limit.
The IHarvest complete package is hands down the best product I have purchased in years! I have had hobby gardens for a long time, until I get frustrated with pests, invasive plants, growing conditions, and birds. Hydroponic gardening inside gets rid of many of those frustrations. While there is a slight learning curve, IGWORKS has thought to include everything you need to succeed at growing indoors. Their customer service is prompt and helpful, their support network is top notch. Start having fun while growing your own food, buy this right now!
Installs quickly and seamlessly. So far, with the two I've gotten, the trellises have come separately, but they are part of the deal. Customer service could not be better! I've already begun fantasizing about more levels.....and wondering how high I can go--or maybe a 3rd unit, but my OCD might make me get a 4th, too. :)
I’m so happy I purchased the iHarvest. The owner of the company has been very responsive and the Facebook group makes it so much less intimidating for someone who has always killed every plant previously. I really appreciate that there’s no pressure to continue to purchase additional supplies directly from the company.
After spending time researching the different hydroponic systems, the iHarvest is easily the clear winner. Unlike other units there are no fancy electrical panels/parts that could potentially break nor are there subscription costs or need for WIFI. If the pump or grow lights should ever go out (or eventually wear out from 365 days a year use!), it is an easy fix. The initial installation was easy with clear instructions. It has been fun learning the EC and pH levels for the different plants and how to manipulate the numbers to achieve the best grow conditions. Honestly, the best part about the system is Dave, the CEO of this company. He is quick to respond to questions and he genuinely wants his customers to achieve success. We just ordered a second unit so we can grow flower-bearing plants (such as tomatoes and bell peppers). The lettuce and herbs we have enjoyed from our first unit has gone beyond our wildest expectations in terms of taste and convenience. Thank you, Dave, for a fabulous system and thank you for your time answering our questions.
The iHarvest has worked better than I'd hoped for. Setup was basically putting together a Lego set with giant bricks, couldn't have been any easier. Other than adding water and nutrients there's been zero maintenance in the several months I've owned it. And the best part, I've got herbs growing faster than I can eat them.
A few things that really stood out to me versus other units I looked at:
-iHarvest utilizes verticle space very well, the unit's got a tiny footprint for the amount you can grow on it. Looks great too, makes a sort of "living wall".
-It's quiet, all you hear is lightly trickling water - almost wish there was more of it, it's relaxing.
-None of the internals are proprietary or need to be replaced with iHarvest specific parts. If you need a new pump, just about any will do. Same with the timers. No worries about version changes and parts going out of stock or anything of the sort.
-The support is amazing. I've emailed Dave (owner) a few times and always gotten a reply within the day, very friendly and knowledgeable guy.
-It's easy. I had some reservations getting into hydroponics about the amount of upkeep. Every other week or so I dump a bucket of water in it and add some nutrients, takes 5 minutes. The huge reservoir really helps on that front, if you top it off you could leave it for around a month without running out of water - great if you're ever away for long periods of time.
I'm leaving this review on my way to order a second iHarvest.
